The Riggin' Warriors of OFLA- In the early 1990s,"Johnny Wilde" I started a non-profit organization called the OFL. Oregonian's for Loggers. We realized we forgot something, the trees. Oregonian's For Loggers and Trees, OFLAT was born. Pronounced Ofla = The "t" is silent like the Trees. OFLA is a Cherokee word, meaning "We The People". Thru the Universal Church of Life, OFLA became a Church, The First Church of EARTH. I began writing Songs about Loggin', Sport Tunes, Native Tunes, Songs about Love, Songs about the Lord, Songs about the South. I started recording My Songs as the Riggin' Crew, with a feller by the name of Pete 'Elvis Horse' Christie as Bobby Peru & de Riggin' Crew. I changed the name to The Riggin' Warriors. I was always called the Crow. My name became Bobby 6 Crows. We've had more than 2 hundred gigs. We play Country Loggin' Boogie Woogie, with a lot of Heart and Soul.
Bryan Wollen, "De Boogie Woogie Kid". Guitar - He started playin' as a 15 year old Brave. He is a Warrior now. I told 'The Kid' we are like the Blues Brothers, he said, "No, you guys are more like Cheech and Chong". Jimi Hendrix would be darn proud of The Riggin' Warrior Version of 'Voodo Child'. The kindness and respect Bryan shows is a sign of a good up bringing (Give Thanks Lois) His Light Shines when He plays the Boogie. 'De Kid' Plays a lot of jazz licks to our country songs. A trick that Chet Adkins would employ, Bryan is to tough to be called 'de Kid', So I call him Chester.
On drums is a True Brother of The Crow, Riggin' Ron McChesney, He has been with the Band a long time, He is a pro. A class act, and he can beat on dem skins good. A True Asset to OFLA. Does More Tricks With Sticks than possible. He Cut His long blond 'Rock' Hair dew, Turns out to be red. So I call him Opie.
Playing A Hammond Organ thru a Leslie is 'Big Daddy G' Mike Gelardi, and it sounds Awesome! He is Awesome. Adds whole lot of 'Church' to the Riggin' Warrior Sound. Sweet Voice. One Cool Dude, Rides An 'Indian' Motorcycle. Big Daddy has quite the medical background and is always gives me free advice. Has a real sweet voice. Recently Won the 04 Riggin' Warrior MVP.
On Bass for the Riggin' Warriors; is Bobby Jones by far the most talented all around musician in the band. He can play anything, He has made real improvements on the important things, He is One of the very Best Bass Players on Earth. He likes playing with the Crow cause he plays old Country Songs that his Uncle Bob taught him, Great Songwriter too. He can Play Slide, Bass, Harp, sing Background great. He picked up the Mandolin and with in 2 weeks he was picking and Singing Songs in French on the Mandolin. He is Sick. Quite the Artist as His Scuptures Are Awesome. He Gave to Mamma Sue One of the King, From Tupalo Mississippi, Elvis Presley. Way Cool.
My Name is Henderson. I'm a third Generation Logger from God's Country Oregon. In College and High School I was always #6 playin' soccer. An old Indian Hooktender once told me an old Loggin' Tale about how the Crows lead a Logger's Soul to Heaven. My name evolved to Bobby Six Crows. I am not a musician, just a Logger, an old broken down Chokerdog. Tryin' to express my words of Love thru music. We may not be the best band in town, but we have as much fun as anyone. And we express as much love and energy as anyone. I write 75% of our tunes. I am influenced from George Jones to George Thorogood. From Mickey Newbury to Canned Heat, I hung With Henry Vestine, John Lee Hooker to Johnny Cash. The Riggin' Warriors always pays respect to Buzz Martin, The Godfather of LoggerRock, "Where there Walks a Logger, There Walks a Man", And to Hank Williams as we saw the Light traveling down that 'Lost Highway' doing the 'Honky Tonk Blues', And to Johnny Cash - LONG LIVE THE MAN IN BLACK.
